11+ Preparation Classes
Weekly Online 11+ Group Class Topics
We run four topic-specific group classes for Year 4 and Year 5, to help students with preparation for 11+ and 13+ pre-test examinations.
11+ Reasoning classes - Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning
11+ Mathematics classes - Covering all topics from the upper KS2 mathematics curriculum
11+ English classes - Covering creative writing, comprehension, spelling, grammar and vocabulary
11+ Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning Classes
We aim to cover all Verbal Reasoning question types, such as:
Word Building - Missing letters, Move a letter, Hidden Word, Find the missing word…
Word Meanings - Synonyms & Antonyms, Rhyming Synonyms, Odd ones out…
Maths - Sequences (number and letter), Complete the sum, Related numbers…
Coding and Logic - Riddles, Facts, Letter-word codes and Number-word codes.
Our Non-Verbal Reasoning classes will cover question types, such as:
NVR - Matrices, Most like/unlike, Series and Sequences, Analogies, Horizontal & Vertical Codes and Complete the pair.
Spatial - Fold along the line, Fold and punch, Cubes and Nets and Shaded Nets.
3D Spatial - Building blocks, 3D Rotation, Complete the shape, 2D views of 3D shapes and Cube views.
11+ English Classes
We aim to cover a selection KS2 English topics, such as:
Comprehension - Modern fiction from well-known authors, Non-fiction texts, Pre-19th Century texts and a selection of poetry.
Exploring Question Types - Inferential, Retrieval, Vocabulary, Prediction and Author’s choice - all in both long-written and multiple-choice format.
Creative Writing - Letters, Blogs, Stories, Speeches and Descriptions. Students will write from a given title, continuation of a story, a picture stimulus etc…
Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar - Root Words, Common spelling patterns, Word classes, Punctuation and Spotting Errors.
Students have a chance to annotate, analyse and examine examples of written work and extracts.
11+ Mathematics Classes
We aim to cover a selection of KS2 Mathematics topics, such as:
Place Value, Ordering and Rounding
Properties and Numbers and Sequences
Calculations - Addition, Subtraction, Division and Multiplication
Fractions, Decimals and Percentages
Ratio and Proportion
Rapid Recall and Mental Facts
Measurement
Geometry: Shape, Space, Angles, Position and Direction
Data Handing and Statistics
Algebra
All students have access to a comprehensive maths topic list that they can use as a check-list when revising mathematics topics at home.
General Group Class Info
As with all of our weekly group classes, we ensure:
Maximum of six students per regular weekly group class
Individual attention, due to a low number of students participating
We run classes, even if they have less than six students (some classes are quieter than others)
Homework is set each week - this is either emailed over to you or can be accessed directly from your lesson link
A lesson report is sent after each lesson, detailing what has been covered in your lesson and giving details of the homework set
Pay-per-class, no monthly commitment and free cancellation outside of our 24-hour notice period
All of are teachers are qualified, fully DBS checked and come with outstanding references from previous schools and employers
